FAQs — Misak Colombia

How should I enjoy Misak?

It's a very versatile coffee, lovely black or with milk. Its caramel and chocolate notes make it especially comforting as an espresso or cortado. As a filter, the mandarin acidity comes through more clearly.

What are the best brew methods?

Espresso: Sweet, with a juicy body and a long caramel and chocolate aftertaste.
Filter / V60: Highlights the mandarin acidity and the clean character of the washed process.
Moka pot / French press: Makes a denser, more enveloping cup.

Is it available whole bean or ground?

Available as whole bean or ground — for espresso, moka pot, filter and French press. Choose your option when adding it to your basket.

Is it a strong or mild coffee?

It's a medium-intensity coffee with a balanced, steady profile. It isn't harsh — its caramel sweetness and clean finish make it very easy to drink every day.

Does it have a lot of caffeine?

Like all Arabicas, it has a moderate caffeine level — lower than commercial Robustas. Perceived intensity depends more on the brew method than on the origin.

What makes the Misak community's coffee special?

The Misak are an indigenous people of Cauca with an ancestral bond with the land. They grow coffee using environmentally friendly methods, on small plots of volcanic soil, which gives the coffee a unique sense of place. Buying Misak also means directly supporting these families and their way of life.

What's the difference between specialty coffee and regular coffee?

Specialty coffee is selected by origin, variety and process, with full traceability back to the farm. It's roasted lighter to preserve the bean's own flavours, without the bitterness of industrial dark roasts.

How should I store my coffee?

In a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Not in the fridge. Reseal the bag tightly after each use.

What is the shelf life?

Best enjoyed within 9 months of the roast date shown on the bag.

Origin

A coffee born between rivers, grown high in the mountains of the Colombian Massif and produced by Indigenous communities. It comes from ten producers in the municipality of Inzá in the country's south-west, where the farm owners themselves hand-pick it cherry by cherry and process it on their land, at more than 1,900 metres above sea level.

This combination of factors gives the bean its own, authentically natural flavours, which you will discover every time you drink this delicious coffee.
