Introducing the Espresso Martini: History and Origins

An iconic cocktail in the world of mixology, the Espresso Martini has a fascinating origin story. Legend has it that in 1984, at the Soho Brasserie in London, a top model asked for a drink that would pick her up. That's when Dick Bradsell, a renowned bartender of the time, created this iconic drink, full of flavour, intensity and balance. And so the Espresso Martini was born — a cocktail that has delighted coffee and cocktail lovers ever since.

Espresso Martini Ingredients and Method

What You Need

  • High-quality vodka: 50 ml
  • Quinto coffee, Floral profile: 50 ml
  • Coffee liqueur: 25 ml
  • Coffee beans to garnish: 3

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Chill a martini glass by filling it with ice and water, then set it aside.
  2. Pour the vodka into the cocktail shaker.
  3. Add the coffee liqueur, using a jigger to measure accurately.
  4. Add the sugar syrup (if needed — with Quinto coffee it isn't).
  5. Add the Floral-profile Quinto coffee to lift the flavour with fruity notes.
  6. Close the shaker and shake hard to create a creamy foam.
  7. Strain the cocktail into the chilled martini glass, keeping the foam.
  8. Garnish with the 3 coffee beans, arranged like a small flower on the surface of the cocktail.
  9. Ready to serve and enjoy!

With this recipe you can delight your guests with an Espresso Martini full of flavour and elegance, perfect for any occasion.

An Important Note on Sugar

It's worth highlighting that if you use Quinto coffee in this recipe, sugar syrup isn't needed thanks to its natural, balanced sweetness. That means an even more delicious and authentic experience in every sip.
